The design approach for this house in a suburb of Tehran, was to study how to interpret the restricted building regulation into a formal strategy that organizes the programs in synergy with the stip topography. The FAR allowed a four-story building on 30% of the land area. Instead of a conventional four-story box typology, which would result in a sharp distinction between the building and its surrounding landscape, we laid down the programs on the land as a continuous plane and then cut this functional plane into four parallel stripes along the topography lines. The programs rest on the natural topography by bending and twisting these strips. The roof of each space is the terrace for another room, and the life inside the house continuously extends to a series of connected outdoor balconies and patios.
